Rock 'Em Sock 'Em ROBOTS Game

Rock 'Em Sock 'Em ROBOTS Game Review

Rock 'Em Sock 'Em ROBOTS Game Feature

  • The classic game from 1966 in which the battling robots try to knock each other's blocks off
  • Red Rocker and Blue Bomber battle it out in the arena, with realistic sounds and jaw-jolting action
  • When a robot lands that blockbuster punch to his opponent's jaw, the victorious robot's head pops up with that Rock 'Em Sock 'Em gotcha sound
  • Complete with robots and stadium
  • A classic game fun for all
Long before TV shows like Battlebots, there were these guys: two plastic boxers battling it out in a ring, tirelessly jabbing at each other in an effort to knock their opponent's block off. Years go by and these fighters (creatively referred to in my house as "the blue one" and "the red one") are still at it, still operated by two players working simple controllers, and still madly punching in an effort to knock loose the other fellow's spring-loaded head. As was traditionally the case, it takes a while to maneuver the robots such that you can even land any punch, let alone a knockout blow. But for intense silly robot fighting, without the hassle of batteries, these guys are still champs. --John Moe A return of a classic! Mattel brings back the classic game from 1996 in which the original battling robots try to knock each other's blocks off! Red Rocker and Blue Bomber battle it out in the arena, with realistic sounds and jaw-jolting action. When a robot lands that blockbuster punch to his opponent's jaw, the victorious robot's head pops up with that Rock 'Em Sock 'Em "gotcha sound." Adult assembly required. Stadium measures 14.5"L x 10"W x 5.5"H.

Rack-O Card Game

Rack-O Card Game Review

Rack-O Card Game Feature

  • It is a card game
  • Get your rack of 10 cards in consecutive order, from lowest to highest
  • Players take turns by drawing and discarding
  • Whoever yells Racko first ends the round and earns the most points
  • For 2 to 4 players
Like many card games, Rack-O is part skill, part luck of the draw. Two to four players try to get their rack of 10 cards in consecutive order, from lowest to highest, first. The cards are numbered from 1 to 60, and each player takes a turn by drawing and discarding. Bonus Rack-O points are earned when a player gets a perfect run of three or more cards. The first to rack up 500 points wins. The rule book doesn't suggest variations, but more challenge can be added by having to get certain number patterns, like even numbers or multiples of 3, which will also increase the number skills development that's part of this game. --Lynne Sampson The player who is the first to get 10 cards into low-to-high sequential order is the winner. A fun way to teach numbers to younger children. 2-4 players.

Battleship Design May Vary

Battleship Design May Vary Review

Battleship Design May Vary Feature

  • Classic naval warfare game
  • Look for your opponent's fleet by calling out squares on the grid
  • Requires strategy and logic
  • Game sets are portable, making them easy to play at home or on the road
  • For 2 players
Battleship captains plot their strategies, send out torpedoes, and as the last ship (often the smallest, two-peg patrol boat) hides in an unsuspected corner, anticipation mounts. Like many classic games, Battleship walks a fine line between strategy and luck. The goal is to conceal the location of your ships while finding and destroying your enemies' fighters. The playing arena is a notebook-size plastic board updated for '90s sensibilities: the "floor" of the board is printed with waves and the exterior vaguely resembles a laptop. The design mimics the view a submarine captain would have, complete with a glimmer of radar waves. The game is perfect entertainment to share: simple enough for children, yet gratifying enough for adults to enjoy. One design decision keeps this edition from being truly stellar: the playing boards don't lock securely, allowing the small pegs to fall out and spill from the sides if jostled. --Jennifer Buckendorff Do you have what it takes to command your own fleet of five ships' Can you survive thrilling, ruthless combat on the high seas' Find out with this classic Battleship game, a test of strategy, determination and luck! Stalk your enemy and plan your attack, even as the enemy is stalking you! Keep track of your hits and misses so you never waste a shot! Try to sink all five of your opponent's ships before your own are found and sunk. The game is portable - the game units fold up to keep everything shipshape and ready to go! Includes two fold-up game units, 168 white peg, 84 red pegs, 10 ships, label sheet and instructions in both English and Spanish. For 2 players.
